The Diesel Bug Test Kit is designed to detect microbial contamination in diesel fuels commonly used in boats, storage tanks, home heating systems, and more.
It identifies the presence of bacteria, yeast, and fungi, providing a clear picture of the fuel’s condition.
If contamination is detected, the issue can be effectively treated and neutralized with Diesel Bug Treatment (DBT), ensuring your fuel supply remains clean and reliable.
Kit contains:
The Marine16 Diesel Bug Test Kit provides everything you need to quickly and accurately check your fuel for microbial contamination.
Each kit includes:
- A neutraliser solution to prepare the sample
- A dip-slide test piece to detect bacteria, yeast, and fungi
- Two plastic containers for safe handling of the sample and test slide
- Protective rubber gloves
- A step-by-step instruction sheet
- An easy-to-use results chart for interpreting the test
- Additional information about diesel bug and fuel care
Compact and simple to use, this kit gives boat owners, storage facilities, and home heating users peace of mind by identifying contamination before it becomes a costly problem.
WHY YOU NEED DIESEL TREATMENTS
Diesel has fundamentally changed. Modern diesel is distilled from a poorer quality substrate and environmental regulations require the addition of biodiesel and the removal of sulphur. Biodiesel degrades in a fashion you would expect of an organic product and removal of a natural biocide in the form of sulphur has opened the hatch to microbial contamination by yeast, mould and bacteria - a triple threat known as "Diesel Bug". In addition, modern engines now operate under much greater stress with a reduced tolerance for imperfect fuel.
Most diesel fuel is used within 18 – 24 days of leaving the refinery so there is no requirement to prepare it for longer term storage in boats and tanks.
Whilst diesel fuel additives won’t improve consumption or power, they will preserve them.
THE BIG PROBLEM IS WATER
Water is by far the single most destructive contaminant in a diesel tank. Modern diesel particularly in the form of biodiesel absorbs moisture from the air. If the tank has a drain plug extract the water regularly.
Free water gives rise to microbes, the Diesel Bug.
Diesel emulsified with water undermines the natural lubrication of diesel, wearing and rusting engine, and can result in clogging and injector failure.

IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
Diesel Bug Test kit is used to check for microbial contamination of diesel fuels in boats, storage tanks, etc.
KILL DIESEL BUGS
If you have diesel bug Marine 16 Diesel Bug Treatment will kill it!
CLEAN DEPOSITS AWAY
Marine 16 Diesel Injector Cleaner is a once only treatment to remove deposits that have found their way into the fuel pump and injectors.
